Community First Land Trust
We are a non-profit organization that creates permanent affordable housing in North Charleston, SC and helps marginalized communities build generational wealth.
How It Works
Community Land Trusts use a dual-ownership model to create and maintain permanently affordable housing. Homeowners own their home and lease the land from the Community Land Trust at below-market value.
1. Land Trust acquires and develops homes
2. Qualified resident purchases affordable home
3. Homeowner can build equity over time
4. Homeowner sells to qualified resident at an affordable price
Areas We Serve
We are focused on historically significant neighborhoods settled by formerly enslaved people. These communities have suffered from a history of racial segregation and environmental injustices.
